Dear Junior Class Parents:
Updated 8/26/2012
Your child’s junior year has arrived! With that comes the responsibility of hosting the annual Junior/Senior Prom. As a junior, he or she will be asked to raise money and help prepare for this event. Therefore, we ask that your child do his or her part to make this a memorable event. We will have five different fundraising opportunities: Varsity football concessions, magazine/gift sales, Zak’s Cheese, Pies, and Little Caesar’s PizzaKits! The junior class website will have the most up to date information.
On Friday, August 31st, we will run our first varsity football game. Every junior will be given an assigned game and time slot they will need to work. Juniors, who are unable to work due to activity involvement such as football, cheerleading, band, or drill team, need to find someone to work in their place. They may also bring a baked good to auction off on the night they are scheduled to work. Parents may also help their junior in this task. As with any other information, the schedules will be posted on the website.
We will kick off magazine sales Friday, August 24th. In the past, magazines sales consisted of magazines, a few books, and music. This year the magazine company has drastically changed what they sell. The juniors will have a meeting during seminar so the company representative can go through the order form with them and discuss any questions they may have. The magazine orders will be due on Tuesday, September 4th. This is only a little over a week so there won’t be a lot of time to waste.
The annual Zak’s Cheese sale will begin on Monday, October 15th and end on Friday, November 2nd with a scheduled delivery date of Friday, November 16th. Cheese sales are the largest part of the junior year. In the past, it has brought in almost half of the total income for the junior year. We look for this year to be no different.
Sara Lee and Chef Pierre pies will be sold in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. This event will begin Monday, November 5th and run through Friday, December 14th. Pies will be kept on hand so the time between order and delivery should be kept to a minimum. We may try and sell some of these during the varsity basketball games.
A new fundraiser for this year is the Little Caesar’s Pizza PizzaKit! This event will run Monday, September 10th and end on Friday, September 28th. This date is firm and any orders turned in after may not be processed. If your child will not be able to turn their orders in on that date, they will need to turn them in earlier. The reason for this is that we have to call in the order by the following Tuesday at noon and we will need time to check the orders and money before preparing the final order. The delivery date will be Tuesday, October 9th or Wednesday, October 10th.
Prizes will be given to the top three salespersons. This will be cumulative from all fundraisers with the exception of the football concessions. The prizes were discussed with the juniors during the class meeting on Thursday, August 23rd. The end dates are when the order forms and money are due from each student. The students are to be responsible for all of their order forms and money until they are turned in to a junior class sponsor. All items are to be paid for when they are ordered. Any checks are to be made out to Hugoton High School (HHS) or HHS Junior Class.
There is a lot of information in this letter and some of it may change. Please check the website for the most up to date information. We know the juniors want to deliver a Junior/Senior Class prom to remember and they can! Please encourage your child to do his/her part to raise money and participate in the preparations of prom. We would also like to thank you in advance for your time and effort this year!
Sincerely,
Junior Class Sponsors
