Dear Junior Class Parents,
The time has once again arrived for the annual Junior/Senior Prom! The Junior class has been hard at work planning and preparing the details for their “Escape To India”! If your student has not received their invitation by the time you receive this letter, they may have a fine/fee in the office that needs their attention.
ATTENDANCE TO THE PROM REQUIRES ALL MONEY AND EQUIPMENT OWED TO THE SCHOOL PAID OR RETURNED BEFORE AN INVITATION IS SENT TO THE STUDENT.
(Hugoton High School Student Handbook)
In the past only Juniors and Seniors were allowed to attend the banquet. This year the Junior class has decided to open the banquet to the dates of the Juniors and Seniors. Juniors or Seniors who wish to bring an outside date must purchase a guest banquet ticket from a Junior Sponsor prior to the RSVP deadline of March 8, 2012. The cost is $25.00 per ticket which includes the meal, souvenir glass, and place setting. There will not be a refund offered if the student chooses not to attend the event after March 8th. There will not be ANY RSVPs accepted after this date as the glasses and table decorations will be purchased after the count has been made. The meal will consist of:
Tossed Salad
Fresh Baked Bread
Beef Brisket
Cheesy Potatoes
Green beans
Pie Selection
The following excerpt is from the Hugoton High School Student Handbook and can be found on page 42 under Junior/Senior Prom:
…Only those people with an invitation, however, will be actually admitted into the dinner/dance… Any student who brings a date from outside our school will assume full responsibility for his/her guest's behavior. Guests will not be over the age of 20. Middle school students are not allowed to attend prom… Guests are permitted, but any attempt to fraudulently admit underclass students will be denied.
As in the past, we need your help. We ask that you bring hors d'œuvres for the refreshment table. They will need to be delivered to the new kitchen by 6:00 pm on Saturday, April 21st. We will also need your help maintaining the refreshment tables throughout the night. If you can work during the following times, please let us know! We would like to have 5-6 persons per shift. We will be preparing the meal on the morning of prom.
The second and third shifts (6:00-7:00 & 7:00-8:00) will be working in the kitchen plating the meal and cleaning up after the banquet. The fourth shift’s (8:00-9:00) focus will be to finish the Banquet/Dance transition.
